Bộ Tài chính Mỹ phạt Bank of America 1,2 tỷ đô la và cơ quan quản lý ngân hàng phạt thêm 750 triệu đô la sau khi ngân hàng thừa nhận cố ý vi phạm luật chống rửa tiền; ngân hàng cho biết sẽ ghi nhận khoản chi phí 1,2 tỷ đô la trong kết quả quý III.

- Bộ Tài chính cho biết ngân hàng báo cáo trễ hơn 5 tỷ đô la giao dịch đáng ngờ; hơn 1 tỷ đô la trong số đó liên quan đến rủi ro an ninh quốc gia và các rủi ro tài chính bất hợp pháp được ưu tiên.
- Khoản phạt 750 triệu đô la của Văn phòng Kiểm soát Tiền tệ là mức lớn nhất cơ quan này từng áp dụng. Khoản này được tính vào tổng tiền phạt 1,2 tỷ đô la.
- Bank of America cũng dàn xếp với Văn phòng Kiểm soát Tài sản Nước ngoài về 475 vi phạm có dấu hiệu liên quan đến nhiều chương trình trừng phạt, với số tiền 11,6 triệu đô la.
- Ngân hàng cho biết khoản phạt sẽ được ghi nhận thành chi phí không được khấu trừ thuế trong kết quả quý III.
